We may remind ourselves here of that which we shall consider at length later on, that the love of the Son which was manifested for our salvation is the love which made Him willing to endure self-emptying even to its extreme limit—the loss of all consciousness of union with the Father Who is His life. Thus the love which is the cause of the Incarnation and all that follows it, is the perfect love of Father for Son, and Son for Father, whose love the Spirit is. We can see
